And there were four.
After the Astros shelled the Rays to complete the divisional series, the Yankees, Nationals and Cardinals join Houston at Major League Baseballs last four. The National League Championship Series kicks off tonight out of Busch Stadium where a few NLDS underdogs kick off the Best-of-Seven series in what should be a part of a matchup.
We havent been getting much in terms of outcomes with our postseason selections outside of a couple of the slates, so let us see if we could make our weekend and cross the money line with the single-game slate of tonight!
MVP — Juan Soto (WAS) — $7,500 vs. STL
If you would like to include the NL Wild Card game against the Brewers, the Nationals have played with two rounds of postseason baseball, and Soto has divided hearts of opposing fans in every single round to this point. After an eighth-inning two-run single (three scored thanks to a mistake ) in the Wild Card game, Soto tied Game 5 of the NLDS with a monster home run from future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw, following teammate Anthony Rendons burst on the last pitch. Not just is the baseball world still shocking in the age of 20, but hes already a postseason celebrity of his career through his first six playoff games. Add it up and Soto hit .273 with a .930 OPS up to now in these game containing two homers, six RBI, four runs scored and three strikes around six matches. Tonight Soto and the Nationals will take on right-hander Miles Mikolas that had been better at home than on the street in the regular season. However, I will put that aside and focus on the simple fact that Soto posted a gigantic .303 ISO, 1.000 OPS, .414 wOBA along with 155 wRC+ on the season against right-handed pitching with very similar numbers on the street against righties. Hes also 3 to 8 with a homer and a double in his career against Mikolas. Hes been white-hot and that I need double his points tonight.
All-Star — Howie Kendrick (WAS) — $5,500 vs. STL
The game was tied by sotos blast, but it had been Kendrick who shattered Dodgers Nations collective hearts as the veteran infielder crushed against a 10th-inning grand slam that punched the Nationals ticket with the Cardinals. Kendrick has left some errors on defense in the series along with his bat was fairly silent throughout the show also, however he silenced everything with this very long run to dead-center field and I think his bat could heat up from here and I will look to get additional value from him at this price and in 1.5x his points because the All-Star inside this lineup. I mean, lets be conscious of the regular season this guy. Sure lefties were mashed by him and his work came in the home. But he hit .327 using a .221 ISO, .930 OPS, .385 wOBA along with 136 wRC+ against righties. Furthermore, he also posted a .211 ISO, .838 OPS, .345 wOBA along with 110 wRC+ from righties on the road this season. That grand slam that was series-clinching came against a righty from the Dodgers Joe Kelly. And perhaps best of all, is that the fact that Kendrick has absolutely owned Mikolas within their background. The veteran has gone 8 for 11 (.727) using a home run and a triple against Mikolas. I am pretty sure I will take that along with the job he has done overall this year and the work hes posted against same-handed pitching.
UTIL — Anthony Rendon (WAS) — $9,500 vs. STL
I mean, regardless of where his ownership degree resides, its just really difficult to depart Rendon out of any Nationals stack now. Of course hed make for a MVP or All-Star, however using Kendrick in that spot we can find some worth that is large if he were to out-perform Rendon, along with with his job against Mikolas, its entirely possible. Still, when the Nationals needed a calming presence in their lineup will them back to against the Dodgers, it was Rendon who began it with a solo bomb from Kershaw to deliver the Nationals inside one before Soto tied it up on the very next pitch. Furthermore, it was Rendon who set the Dodgers with a double in the 10th to place runners on third and second and the burst from Kendrick. I meanthe season this guy has will earn him a paycheque that offseason as a free agent. He smashed pitching from each side of the plate, then submitting a .320 typical, .271 ISO, .996 OPS, .411 wOBA and 153 wRC+ against right-handed pitching. He managed similar breaks on the road against righties too, so theres no way Im leaving him out of this Nationals tonight.
UTIL — Matt Carpenter (STL) — $5,500 vs. WAS
Carpenter hasnt been able to perform his way to the Braves lineup always in those playoffs and if he did get a start in Game 5 he walked into his lone at-bat before being removed for a defensive replacement as a result of the Cardinals building a whopping 10-run lead in the first inning. The reality is, as hes more than capable despite enduring in 2019, I am waiting to unload on something. After clubbing a 36 home run last year and submitting a .266 ISO, Carpenters production dropped to 15 homers and a .166 ISO to go together with a .315 wOBA and 95 wRC+. His numbers against righties were solid from a power perspective using a .177 ISO and .737 OPS, however he ultimately fell under league average against righties as well. Having said that, I really do like the fact that Carpenter enjoyed his seasons month in September leading up to those playoffs when he struck for a .233 ISO, .866 OPS, .364 wOBA and 127 wRC+. He homeredin two of his three regular season competitions but managed to log just nine plate appearances across five matches in the NLDS, when he posted a solid .748 OPS because of three walks. Hed knock three runs at that time, as well. In other words, I am looking to encounter a tonight and then give us a few quality value at potential low possession in such a one.
UTIL — Paul DeJong (STL) — $7,000 vs. WAS
Equipping our lineup and Cardinals mini-stack is DeJong who is a tiny bit of a left guy sitting all the way down the Cardinals lineup in eighth in the batting order, however he is certainly more than capable of running into a while I enjoy his stolen base upside as well later stealing nine bases in the regular season on top of his own career-high 30 home runs. The good news is since the shortstop hit pitching much better than hed lefties that DeJong actually sported reverse-splits in the regular time. While 24 of his 31 doubles came against a righty as 22, of his 30 home runs, 27 were against righties. Add it up and DeJong posted a.228 ISO, .783 OPS, .329 wOBA and 104 wRC+ against righties in the regular season. Now, while six of the nine steals came from a righty, he was also caught stealing five times by a righty, good for a bad 54.5% victory rate. Nevertheless, Sanchez is among the mor targetable pitchers in the big leagues for bases as he allowed 15 of them from innings this season. That is a lot. He additionally let 16 in 136.2 innings last season. Because of this, he gets some stolen base upside down this one. DeJong has gone 2 for 5 with a homer and a double in his career against Sanchez, therefore I am loving what he could bring to the table from a perspective that was cross-category tonight.
